About Me

After some early academic ventures into physics, mathematics and psychology, I finally gave in to my passion in the 1990s and devoted myself entirely to photography, starting with a degree in photographic design.

A scholarship during my studies first took me to New York, where I began working as an assistant on top international photo and film productions. After returning, I continued this work in Germany and shortly afterwards moved to London.

It was there, in the late 1990s, that my career as a freelance photographer began. I started out photographing people for magazines, with a strong focus on the music industry. Over time my focus shifted increasingly towards fashion and beauty productions, which today form the core of my work.

Throughout, my passion for portrait photography has kept coming back. It led to the extensive photo book All The People(Kerber Verlag) in 2016 and, at the start of the pandemic, to the project NoShowBerlin.

After 17 years in London, with spells in New York along the way, Berlin has been the centre of my life and work since 2015. I live here with my partner.

Over the years I have gained extensive experience in planning and executing shoots, casting models, assembling creative teams and developing concepts. On both commercial and editorial productions, I am happy to take on art and photo direction on request.

My production experience spans numerous countries and cities. It ranges from Los Angeles, Miami and New York in the US to many locations across the UK, Sweden, Italy, France and Spain (mainland, Balearic and Canary Islands), as well as South Africa, Kenya, India, the Maldives and the Seychelles.

What connects all my work, apart from the fact that there are always people in front of the camera, is a love of drama. I’m drawn to strong light, tension and the darker side of things, and I want my pictures to make people feel something.
